Australia to be partner in Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit

New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel today extended invitation to more than 1,000 industrialists, diplomats, captains of Indian Industry and other Indian states to partner and participate in the 7th edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2015 going to be held between 11th -13th January, 2015 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate and address the Summit. We have created an entire eco-system that assures business friendly and investment conducive environment - be it re-engineering of our systems, creating requisite infrastructure, skilling our manpower or networking for finances, Smt Patel said at the curtain raiser event of VGGS 2015 here. The Gujarat Chief Minister also held one-on-one meetings with representatives of leading industrial houses prior to the event where she was accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Government of Gujarat. The CEOs and MDs of Maruti Suzuki, Mitsubhishi Corporation India, Moser Bayer Hindustan Power Project Ltd, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd, PHDCC, ONGC, GAIL, BHEL, Petronet LNG, EIL, Hero Corp, Jubilant Biosys Ltd, Honda Cars India Ltd and DCM Shriram Ltd. met the Gujarat CM. Medanta Medicity Director Dr. Naresh Trehan and Railway Board chairman Mr. Arunendra Kumar also called on the Chief Minister. Ambassadors of Japan and Republic of Korea HE Mr. Takeshi Yagi and HE Mr. Joon-gyu Lee called on Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben and discussed issues related to bilateral ties. A high level delegation from Thailand embassy and the representatives from Israel embassy also called on the Gujarat CM here. Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit today represents a global platform for knowledge sharing and social & business transformation. The event has metamorphosed from an investment summit to making Gujarat a Global Business hub. More importantly, we are giving a considerable thrust on social sectors including health, education, women empowerment and specialized areas like innovation and climate change, among others, Smt Patel said making a special mention of the convention for the MSME sector. Sharing the success of Vibrant Gujarat 2013 that witnessed participation from nearly 121 countries with over 2,100 foreign delegates and around 58,000 Indian delegates, Smt Anandiben apprised that nearly 17,719 Investment Intentions and 2,670 Strategic Partnerships were signed in a number of areas including technology transfer, R&D, education and manufacturing during the biennial summit. The seventh edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2015 will witness seven partner countries – Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore and South Africa and we look forward to meaningful engagement with all the stakeholders in areas of Innovation, Sustainability, Youth & Skill Development, Women Empowerment, Knowledge Sharing and Networking, she said. Smt Patel further informed the august gathering that with their support, Gujarat today accounts for more than 7.5 per cent of India’s GDP, 18 per cent of India’s fixed capital and 25 per cent of India’s exports. She reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to improve the quality of life of the people by providing world class infrastructure and create enabling environment so that aspirations of people are fulfilled. In his speech, Gujarat Finance & Industries Minister Shri Saurabhbhai Patel said that the foundation of growth of Gujarat has been laid on the vision and outlook of its leadership, enterprise of its people, sound financial acumen and good infrastructure.  The growth of State also owes a lot to resilience and adaptability of its people, who have always overcome adversity. In Gujarat, it’s not economic development that we want, but we strive for socio – economic development encompassing all growth, he emphasised. From a power deficit to a power surplus state, from inaccessible villages to one of the best road networks in the country with a rurban model in place, from a drought-prone state to an agricultural friendly and an industrial hub -- Gujarat has come a long way. Being a topper state in gas-based thermal electricity generation and base of country’s largest hydro power project, the Sardar Sarovar project, Gujarat is the only state in India to have more than 2,400 km long dedicated state – wide gas grid, Saurabhbhai told an applauding audience.  He further stated that Gujarat stood nowhere in the automobile sector five years ago and today it is an ever expanding auto hub. Gujarat will soon roll out new industrial policy, electronic policy and an IT policy, he added. Announcing a five year export policy for the state of Gujarat, first in the country to have an export policy, the Minister stated that all this has been achieved by strenuous efforts of the Gujarat Government such as removing multiple licenses, introducing single window clearances and a transparent governance model in promoting this very spirit. The VGSS 2015 will have a special pavilion for innovation where experts can exchange their ideas, knowledge and expertise, Shri Patel apprised adding that Vibrant Gujarat offers a platform to countries across the globe to showcase products and expertise in various sectors under one roof. Elaborating the programme of the 7th edition of Vibrant Gujarat 2015, Chief Secretary, Government of Gujarat Dr Varesh Sinha said the mega event will witness presence of world leaders and heads of states besides CEOs of Fortune 500 Companies, Presidents of International Institutions, Noted Economists, Nobel Laureates, Diplomats and International Delegates. Shri Sinha informed that there will be Country Seminars by Australia, Canada, China, Japan, Netherlands, Singapore, South Africa, UK and USA, and State Seminars by various Indian states. We are also organizing a global CEOs Conclave that will witness participation of top CEOs from across the global industry and a Global Trade Show for investors, he added. Vibrant Gujarat is a biennial global Summit held by the Government of Gujarat. The event is aimed at bringing together business leaders, investors, corporations, thought leaders, policy and opinion makers; the summit serves as a perfect platform to understand and explore business opportunities in the State of Gujarat. The Summit provides an excellent platform for showcasing products and services on one hand and one-to-one meetings, round table conferences, B2B meets, etc. on the other between the prospective investors and government officials.
