Bankstown Mayor visited Revesby Gurdwara

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The re-elected Mayor of Bankstown, Councillor Khal Asfour visited Revesby Gurdwara to pay respects and meet the community. Mohinder Singh Bitta received the mayor on behalf of the Gurdwara management. Accompanied by Amarinder Bajwa, Hassan Kureshi and Aruna Chandrala from Sub Continent Friends of Labor, Khal joined the congregation at the Gurdwara. He addressed the gathering and acknowledged the contribution of Sikh community in Bankstown area in Sydney. Khal praised the members of the Gurdwara team for their dedicated hard work and supporting the multicultural society in Australia. He reiterated the contribution of the Sikh community to the country, community and families. Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) team led by Maryanne Stuart raised the issues faced by the community. She presented the information on how the governments are cutting down on Medicare, work choices, education and many other services in the community. Hundreds of community members signed the petition to stop these changes happening. The community members acknowledged ACTU team and overwhelmingly supported the petitions. We are working to inform the communities about the various policy changes that the current governments are stressing to implement so that the communities are aware and can make right as well as informed choices in the next elections, Maryanne said.   [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
