Gujarat attained prominent place with world-class facilities

  • The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today dedicated to the nation, the Vadodara City Command Control Centre; the Waghodiya Regional Water Supply Scheme; and the New Head Office Building of the Bank of Baroda, at a public meeting in Vadodara.
  • The Prime Minister handed over keys of houses to beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban, as well as Rural). He laid the Foundation Stones of several infrastructure and development projects, including an integrated transport hub, regional water supply schemes, housing projects, and a flyover. He also laid the foundation stone for the capacity expansion of the Mundra-Delhi petroleum product pipeline, and a greenfield marketing terminal project of HPCL, at Vadodara.
  • Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the scale of development works being launched in Vadodara today is unprecedented.
  • The Prime Minister said that the Government is clear about its priority being development, and resources being used for the well-being of the citizens.
  • The Prime Minister said that since he was a child, he had been hearing about a ferry service from Ghogha to Dahej. He said that the Government is now focused on all-round development and the ferry has been made operational today.
  • The Prime Minister said that as in previous years, "Run For Unity," will be organised to mark the Jayanti of Sardar Patel on October 31st. He urged people to take part in this enthusiastically.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stones and e-launched several projects totalling Rs.3,600-crore for the facelift of Vadodara’s Smart City and Mahakali Shaktipeeth at Pavagadh at a function in Vadodara in presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel.
  • On the occasion of Vikram Samvat New Year, Mr. Modi and Mr. Rupani congratulated the citizens of Vadodara on their city being adjudged the cleanest.
  • Speaking at the function, he said that development is what concerns the people and what solves the people’s problems. He said that development will thrive in Gujarat only so long Delhi has a leadership favourable to Gujarat and when Gujarat has a leadership favourable to Delhi.
  • Mr. Modi said that Union Government will extend full support to State Governments which would embrace development, there being not a paisa for anti-development. Myopic and limited vision can never develop. The Centre is trying to change the mindset for development and need is to complete the works on time.
  • He called upon the people to participate in ‘Run for Unity’ across the country to commemorate Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary. He said the next agenda is to take electricity to the remaining 4-crore villages in the country by Mahatma Gandhi’s sesquicentennial birth anniversary in 2019, having already connected 16,000 out of 18,000 villages without electricity, and to provide house to all and to march towards gas-based economy by India’s platinum jubilee of Independence in 2022.
  • Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said that Gujarat is developing by leaps and bounds in every field having attained world-class development as Gujarat’s Development Model has become a role model for other states in the country. He listed Ghogha-Dahej Ro-Ro ferry service, modern bus ports, GIFT City, Science City, Bullet train and infrastructural facilities like international airports at Vadodara and Rajkot as some of them – all possible due to farsightedness of incumbent Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Gujarat for over 12 years.
  • He said the State Government has decided to buy raw cotton from farmers at Rs.950 in the wake of bumper crop.
  • The Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel, who is also Vadodara’s Guardian Minister, exuded confidence that Vadodara with ongoing and infrastructure facilities would become the city with all facilities in coming days. He has plans to develop Chhotaudepur district also.
  • Others who were present on the occasion included Minister of State for Sports Rajendrabhai Trivedi, Panchayat Minister Jayantibhai Kavadia, MPs Ranjanben Bhatt, Ramsinh Rathwa, Mayor Bharatbhai Dangar, MLAs, chairmen and directors of boards and corporations, Municipal Commissioner Vinod Rao and Collector P. Bharati.

  • Laid foundation stone of water supply scheme to provide narmada waters at cost of Rs. 442 crore.
  • Laid foundation stone of renovation work of pavagadh mahakali temple at cost of 60 crore.
