India is among top 5 countries producing highest wind energy

Ahmedabad: India is the only county I have seen that worship rivers. In India we worship Sun, Trees and Water. Worshiping nature has been part of our culture and is the great source of sustainable energy said Dr. Sreenivasa Murthy at the Seminar organized by GTU’s Post Graduate Research Centre for Environment & Green Technology on 20th August 2014 at Chandkheda Campus. Dr. Shreenivasa Murthy, ex-vice chancellor of Central University of Karnataka and guest speaker of the event is a renowned name in the field of sustainable Energy. He has 8 patents filed in his name including innovation in sustainable energy and has also won the president award for outstanding engineering. India is among top 5 countries producing highest wind energy in the world and Gujarat is a leading state in India for Wind Energy production. The area of wind energy has a great scope for engineering students of GTU said Dr. Shreenivasa Murthy during his session on “Renewable Energy for Power Generation and sustainable development” at the seminar. He also shared that I always promote the mantra that “Make Conventional Energy Sustainable and Renewable Energy Available”. Dr. Shreenivasa Murthy also shared some interesting facts about the developments in the field of the sustainable energy all over the world. According to the presentation Dr. Murthy shared, investment in the field of renewable energy has grown up to 244 billion USD in 2014 against 40 billion in the year 2004 which demonstrates the drastic growth in just one decade. China and USA are leading countries in the renewable energy productions today. On the occasion Dr. Anil Roy, Chairman, IEEE-Gujarat Section also remained present. Dr. Akshai Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor of GTU inspired all the students to begin with Energy Audit in the Industries and try to work on solutions to improve the energy efficiency which can teach them a lot. He also inspired students to work on design oriented engineering. The Seminar was organized in association with IEEE Gujarat Chapter. 140 students and faculties of GTU Electrical Engineering attended this one day seminar. The seminar was organized with the aim of inspiring students and faculties of GTU to take keen interest in the field of Sustainable Energy which is one of the most developing fields of future engineering.
