Students to spread social awareness on cashless economy

Ahmedabad: A meeting of Principals of affiliated colleges of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) was held at IIM-A on 12th December, 2016. Strategy to implement cashless campus as well as social awareness campaign were discussed in the meeting. The meeting was organized to chalk out future plan about Digitalization and cashless campus. Dr. R.K. Gajjar, Officiating Vice Chancellor of GTU addressed the principals and informed about academic, administrative as well as financial reforms coming up in GTU. She said that, “there may be some challenges to implement cashless campus arrangement, but fortunately our university has some plus points like we are already cashless in terms of accepting student fees and paying honorarium to resource persons. We are doing that through RTGS online. Now as state government and central government have decided to move further in the direction of cashless economy, GTU has issued a circular in this regard.” “Recently Union Minister of Human Resources Development Shri Prakash Jawdekar told in a video conference that college campuses are expected to make themselves cashless. We also expect that students must spread social awareness campaigns. There are more expectations from technical students. As GTU is made up of 95 % technical students, GTU has decided to spread cashless awareness in such a way that each student gives proper understanding to 20 families. Senior officials from SBI, ICICI, HDFC and paytm guided principals about latest techniques, apps and its uses for cashless transaction. Dr. Gajjar also announced that GTU has decided to bring Digilocker system. The system will be linked with Aadhaar number. A student can use his marksheets or transcripts by simple login from any corner of the world. Shri Lilani added that GTU intend to implement pilot project of Digilocker shortly. So it is expected that from all colleges to prepare Aadhaar cards of all students within One month. The meeting was attended by BOG member of GTU Shri Rupesh Vasani, Dean Dr. N.M. Bhatt and Shri Hiranmay Mahanta, Hon. Director of GIC as well as college principals. img_1620 img_1622 img_1624
