The successor to Dr. Raghuram Rajan should not be a puppet of Government

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Summan R AgrawalMrs.Summan R Agrawal [General Secretary, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress] The term of Dr. Raghuram Rajan is coming to an end on 4th September, 2016. He was considered to be an able Governor but recently he has announced that he wont be seeking a second term as the Chief of RBI. Whether it was the question of NAA of banks, or the matter of taking action against defaulters, he has taken strict decisions. Banks are laden with NPA(Non Performing Asset) which is a very serious matter. He took strong action against Vijay Mallya & brought this issue in public. Many such  borrowers are defaulters. About 3 lakh 50 thousand crores debt is at the verge of becoming NPA. As Dr. Rajan is taking stringent actions against them, such people are against him. Inspite of pressure from the vested interest, Dr. Rajan has carried on his duties honestly. He has also seen to the stability of rupee, because of which Indian economy is in good shape compared to other countries. Many industrialists, economists and political leaders of many parties have demanded that Rajan should be given extension. Since 1992, it has been observed that  every governor of Reserve Bank is given extension. On the other hand the so called economist Dr. Subramanian Swamy does not consider Dr. Rajan to be an Indian for which he is being criticized by one & all. Our Prime Minister should have expressed his view on this matter, but he is keeping quiet, which proves that the PM agrees with Dr Swamy. Obstacles are being raised in the way of Dr. Raghuram Rajan in the light of which he has declared that he will not seek second term as RBI Governor. This announcement has saddened many people, which includes economists & Noble Prize winner Dr. Amartya Sen, Chairman of Godrej Group- Adi Godrej, Pritish Nandy, Harsh Goenka & many other intellectuals. Other controversial appointments of this government includes Chetan Chauhan as head of NIFT, Prahlad Nihalani as chairman of Film Censor Board & Gajendra Chauhan as head of FTI. As such, because of world economy problems & other bank related issues, the whole country is looking forward for a dashing & intelligent Governor of RBI & not a puppet at the hands of the Government.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
