Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2015 will feature power pavillion

New Delhi: Gujarat Industries Minister Shri Saurabhbhai Patel today urged the Union Power and Coal Minister Shri Piyush Goyal to direct the concerned authorities to evolve a mechanism for allowing Gujarat DISCOMS to entitle for Renewable Energy Certificates (REC) and sale of solar RE certificates. Shri Patel said that Gujarat is the biggest producer of solar power in India and the generator companies are being allowed for entitlement to REC, but discoms are not allowed. If permission is granted to discoms this will reduce the annual financial burden to the tune of an estimated Rs. 550 crores. The Gujarat minister also demanded for strict compliance of Renewable Power Purchase Obligation (RPPO). Shri Patel extended invitation to the Union Power Ministry to support and participate in the “Power” pavilion at the 7thvibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2015 in order to promote growth, development and employment in the power sector and an overall boost to the national economy. Shri Patel also discussed with the Union Minister issues pertaining to third party sampling for quality of coal, supply of coal from nearby WCL fields, enhanced supply of coal rakes from Korba fields to power plants, adequate inter-regional transmission corridors, power allocation to Gujarat from unallocated quota. Shri Piyush Goyal assured the Gujarat Minister that injustice done by the previous government will be positively looked into.
