Sister State Agreement signed between Gujarat and New Jersey

ujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani and New Jersey Governor Mr. Philip D. Murphy inked sister state agreement –MoU between Gujarat and New Jersey here in Gandhinagar.

According to the agreement the areas of cooperation between two States include economy, clean energy, Higher education, tourism, cultural exchange, healthcare, trade and investment.

Welcoming the Governor of New Jersey Mr. Rupani said that, large number of Gujarati’s are settled in New Jersey since many years and have also contributed to economic activities in New Jersey. The MoU will further strengthen Gujarat and New Jersey's relation. This will result in more investment from New Jersey in Gujarat he expressed.

Governor Murphy invited Mr. Rupani to visit New Jersey. He appreciated contribution of Gujarati community to economic progress of New Jersey and said that his delegation was joined by Gujarat origin members. He showed deep interest for cooperation in pharma, I.T., real estate and trade. He appreciated the ease of trade and investment due to infrastructure in Gujarat.

Mr. Rupani elaborated the role of Investment Friendly Policies, Ease of Doing Business and relief given to investors by the State Government in Gujarat. He also informed the Governor of New Jersey about the recent announcement of a reduction in corporate tax by the Union Finance Minister. Gujarat International Finance Tec City (GIFT) provides world class infrastructure, tax relocation and other opportunities to investors abroad. He highlighted the need for mutual coordination with the Universities of New Jersey in respect of advanced educational infrastructure in Gujarat.

The duo also discussed topics including logistics, transportation and port led development.

Chief Secretary Dr. J. N. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary of Finance Mr. Arvind Agrawal, Principal Secretary to CM Mr. M. K. Das and Managing Director of Indextb Smt.Neelam Rani remained present.
