70,000 tons cement & 24,500 tons steel used to create World’s Largest Statue

- The Statue of Unity, which is being built in the memory of the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the man who united 562 princely states under the nation called India post independence has once again given a Gujarat an opportunity to shine on the global map. The construction of this statue will also fulfill Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s dream of having the World’s Largest Statue in the memory of Sardar Patel.
- Standing at 182 m tall, one can have a scenic view of the natural beauty, for example: the Sardar Sarovar Dam, around the place. In order to enable the visitor to have an experience of the same, a viewing gallery is built at 135 meters which can accommodate as many as 200 people at a time. 2 lifts with the speed of 240 m per minute and having the capacity to accommodate 24 people have been built to facilitate the same.
- An exhibition spread across an area of 4647 sq. mtrs. will catch eyes of one and many. Apart from that, there will be 8 self propelled paths and an approach bridge in the area. A cafeteria with a capacity to accommodate as many as 264 people has also been built there. A three star hotel will be constructed nearby very soon.
- An approximate of 70 thousand tons of cement in addition to 18,500 tons of reinforcement steel and 6000 tons of structural steel has been used to build the statue. 1700 metric tons of bronze has been used for the same.
- 250 engineers and 3700 mechanics are on their toes 27X4 for building the statue. While Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi will inaugurate it on the 134th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on 31st October, 2018; the statue will also become a representative and inspiration of Unity, Integrity and Peace across the globe.
