A tableau on Gandhiji to be presented in the Republic Day parade

  • A tableau titled ‘Historical Dandi March’ which is prepared by the Government of Gujarat will be presented at the Republic Day parade at New Delhi in the presence of the President of South Africa Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa.
  • It is to be noted here that the nation is celebrating the 150th Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi. The Ministry of Defense along with each and every state government followed Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s instructions to pay a historical tribute to Gandhiji. As a part of this, a collection of the works done by Revered Bapu will be presented during the parade of Republic Day at New Delhi. The tableau will be presented on each and every road of the national capital. Following this, each and every state government will present its respective tableaus on the occasion.
  • The Dandi March started by Revered Bapu was instrumental in the Indian Freedom Struggle. When the British imposed a tax on salt, Gandhiji raised a voice against them by starting the Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram to reach Dandi only to lift a pinch of salt thereby breaking the Salt Law. This was one of the leading factors that compelled the British to leave India.
  • The tableau prepared by the Government of Gujarat will feature a rare statue of Gandhiji’s childhood and his birth place Kirti Mandir situated at Porbandar in the first part.
  • The second part of the tableau will feature Gandhiji breaking the Salt Law by lifting a handful of salt at Dandi. Gandhiji discussed and deliberated with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel before starting the Dandi March. The tableau also features a portion wherein it portrays the prison term of Gandhiji after breaking the salt law.
  • The tableau has had contributions from Additional Director of Information Mr. Arvind Patel, Deputy Director of Information Mr. Pankaj Modi and Mr. Mukund Patel under the guidance of the Secretary and Director of Information. The fabrication of the tableau has been done by Mr. Sidhdheshwar Kanunga of Smart Graph Art Advertising Private Limited and the art work has been done by Mr. Mayur Vakani and his team
